SEO - Search Engine Marketing Company

Search engine optimization and search marketing is the art and science of getting your site ranked highly in organic search results. It's a complex subject and I just want to hit a few highlight here. SEO is not for the faint hearted, but for someone who is serious about getting business from their website.

What is involved in SEO services?

Website Readiness - The site has to be designed correctly for browser compatibility and so search engines can read (spider) and include (index) every page of your site. That way every page of your website can serve as a "front door" to your site. Search engines like websites with many pages. This allows you to optimize each page for 1 - 3 of your strongest keywords.

Keyword research and placement - your site content has to include good keywords and have those placed in the correct places in your site. Selecting keywords that no one searches is a waste of time. I refer you to my newsletter learn how to select good keywords. Also go to the Metatag Generator page on my website.

Link Strategies - having quality inbound links (using your strongest keywords in the link text) to your site is vital to achieving a high ranking in search engines. This takes time. Adding too many links too fast can get you banned from search engines. Your SEO person needs to know what kind and what quality of links to accomplish at least 2 objectives: a) increase ranking and b) send targeted traffic to your site.

Site Maps - A new site is hard to get ranked. Often times a new site isn't even picked up by the search engines for at least a month. Some search engines and directories require manual submission of your site. Your site needs to be designed so that every page of the site can be indexed. This happens through text navigation links and/or a sitemap. Google and Yahoo now require your site to have a specially designed sitemap in order to index all of your pages.

Ongoing Monitoring and Maintenance - Search engines ranking change all the time as new sites come online with your same keywords, as you add new content to your site, and depending on which datacenter is crawling your site. Therefore ongoing monitoring and tweaking of your site and addition of new links is needed if you wish to get and keep a high ranking.

Other Search Engine Marketing Strategies - Pay Per Click and Social Media Marketing

In addition to getting your site ranked well in the organic results of top search engines, such as Google, Yahoo and MSN, Girl Geek is also an expert as setting up Pay Per Click ad programs. These work like classified ads and are show above or next to the organic search results. Each time someone clicks from your ad into your website, you pay for the click. Hence, the name: Pay Per Click.  The programs are designed to be self-administered; however, there are many things you need to know in the set up and bidding for keywords so as not to waste money.

Social Media Marketing - Community is King! The latest trend in generating website traffic is using the online communities developed for socializing, networking and sharing resources.  Examples of these include MySpace, LinkedIn, Facebook, Ryze, Merchant Circle and Friendster. If you participate in these communities, you're getting to know more people. As the saying goes, people like to do business with people they know and like, so if you're on one of these sites, get involved. Start posting and developing those relationships
